James Rich moved to New York City in the summer of 2002. He threw himself into acting shortly after arriving. He's built an impressive resume in a short amount of time, studying many angles of acting which he applies to various roles.

Growing up, James learned to use humor as a means to deal with life's difficulties. Much to his teachers' chagrin, James, a natural performer, was able to coax laughter from his classmates. James is a master of spot-on impersonations, often focusing on subtle behavioral tics that he highlights and takes to the next level. Naturally, James studied Improv, most recently with the Upright Citizen's Brigade. Says James, "The funniest stuff for me comes from character studies, and Improv that's character driven can be even funnier."

Presently, James is participating in an ongoing intensive study with Tony Greco, which teaches him to delve into the purpose of acting and discover depth in individual characters. "Whereas Improv has taught me the importance of living in the moment, the Method allows for an innate understanding of the character, enabling me to respond truthfully."

Constant auditioning and hard work have paid off for James in the form of interesting characters and roles. James treasures his opportunity working opposite Hollywood veteran Loren Dean in "Middletown". James has also showed his improv chops in "Jim the Rapist", a short he not only starred in, but co-produced with friend and acclaimed director, Shandor Garrison; the film was actually shot in James' bedroom. In the film, "Americana", James was originally cast as a supporting role, but when the lead dropped out, the director, Zach Shedd, jumped at the opportunity to ask James.

An avid rock and mountain climber, James is always looking for an adventure. He also relaxes by using his hands around the house, especially restoring furniture.

James currently resides in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
